The UK government has announced that the temporary exhaustion regime for intellectual property rights, introduced post-Brexit, will be made permanent. This key decision prevents the importation to the UK of unauthorised international editions, which risk undercutting the domestic market and damaging sales for UK authors and publishers.

We thank the government for continuing to recognise the importance of this vital part of the UK’s IP framework for the publishing sector and wider British business, following the cross-sector Save Our Books campaign advocating for this outcome. Read more
